Is there an AI nutritionist app for iPhone?

Yes. Several iPhone apps call themselves an AI nutritionist or AI nutrition coach. They are wellness tools, not licensed dietitians. MyFitnessPal's Nutrition Coach, Welling, and Feast chat from today's log. NutriCam photographs the meal, shows vitamins and minerals, and answers what to eat next. For medical nutrition, book a registered dietitian.

An AI nutritionist is not a registered dietitian

The App Store is full of apps that use “nutritionist” or “nutrition coach” in the title. A registered dietitian nutritionist is a credentialed clinician. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics lists them in Find a Nutrition Expert. That directory is the answer if you need medical nutrition therapy, a disease, pregnancy, disordered eating, or a plan a clinician will sign.

Nourish is the iPhone path that still has a human RD in the room. Its App Store listing, read October 6, 2026, says it connects you with a registered dietitian by telehealth, with chat, AI-powered meal logging, and insurance billing. The site says 94% of patients pay $0 out of pocket. Its homepage also names an AI assistant for questions between visits. The clinician is the product. The camera is a diary for that clinician.

Welling’s FAQ says it cannot advise on medical conditions. Feast’s site says it is not a medical device and should not replace a qualified clinician or dietitian. Cronometer’s Crono Coach help article says informational support only. ChatGPT is a general chatbot. It is not an iPhone nutritionist app, and it does not hold your food log unless you paste one in.

You still have to log what you already ate

A coach with an empty diary is a recipe blog. Photograph the meal, say it, scan it, or type it. Then the next-meal question has something to work from.

MyFitnessPal Coach reads the diary you already kept, and it cannot log food for you. Welling starts from a chat or photo you send. Feast asks you to correct the photo estimate. Crono Coach starts from the same diary that makes Cronometer useful. NutriCam starts from a confirmed photo or spoken log.

That is the whole job. Remaining protein after a logged day is a dinner cue. A blank log is not. How NutriCam turns the log into a next-meal card: what should I eat next. Dinner from a workout plus today’s meals: apps that suggest dinner from a workout and what you already ate.

Photo calorie counters are a different job

Cal AI photographs food and returns calories, protein, carbs, and fat. We found no nutrition-coach or next-meal claim on its website or App Store listing as of October 6, 2026. That is a counter. This question is an advisor, or a licensed dietitian.

Full split: NutriCam vs Cal AI. Other photo apps, by job: best AI calorie tracker apps. Independent kitchen tests of photo apps ran low, and oil stays invisible: how accurate are AI photo calorie counting apps. For a verified micronutrient diary rather than a chat: NutriCam vs Cronometer.

No app can measure a meal from a photo. A picture cannot show oil, sauces, hidden ingredients, or portion weight. Every number from every app on this page is an estimate until you correct the foods and portions. We have not run an accuracy test across these apps, so this page makes no accuracy ranking.
