What is the best app to track protein on Ozempic or Zepbound?

Short answer: it depends which job you mean. Shotsy logs the Ozempic or Zepbound shot. MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, and Lose It log protein from the food you ate. MeAgain photographs a plate and keeps protein next to the dose. None of these apps is a medical device. Your protein target belongs to your prescriber.

How this list was made

Four questions, answered only from each app’s own website, help center, or App Store listing on October 12, 2026:

  1. Does it log protein from food you ate, on a live iPhone listing or a named site?
  2. Does it also log an Ozempic or Zepbound dose, or only the food?
  3. Is the protein number a food diary, a plate photo, or a daily total you type or import?
  4. What does it cost where the provider states a price and a billing period?

Six apps meet that bar. ChatGPT is not in the table: it is not a tracker. Dose-only apps with no protein number are out. We did not weigh meals or set a medical target, so nothing here is an accuracy ranking or a prescription.

The six apps

1. Shotsy: best for the Ozempic or Zepbound shot

Shotsy’s site, read October 12, 2026, is a GLP-1 tracker for Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. Core features including dose and side-effect tracking, weight charts, and nutrition logging are free. The App Store listing that day names calories, protein, and water, and Apple Health import of weight, calories, protein, and water. Its free-tracker page puts Apple Health sync on Shotsy+. Its own comparison says food logging is macro-focused, with no photo or barcode meal scanner. App Store SKUs include Monthly $9.99 and Yearly $39.99. iPhone and Android. It is the wrong pick if the job is a plate diary.

2. MyFitnessPal: best if you already keep that diary

MyFitnessPal’s Premium page, read October 12, 2026, keeps a free diary and puts barcode scan, Meal Scan, Voice Log, and custom macro goals on Premium at $79.99 a year or $19.99 a month. GLP-1 Support help logs dose, time, and injection location next to meals in the United States on iOS and Android, and in Canada on iOS with the app set to English. You enter the medication. The same page says MyFitnessPal does not verify medication, dose, or timing, and does not alert you to missed doses. A MyFitnessPal blog post, published August 25, 2026, says protein should stay a priority when appetite drops, and to set a protein goal your healthcare team recommended. Independent diaries if you want a different company: MyFitnessPal alternatives.

3. Cronometer: best verified protein grams from food

Cronometer’s Gold page, read October 12, 2026, tracks protein on the free tier against a verified food database, with a barcode scanner. Photo Log, voice logging, and Crono Coach are Gold ($10.99 a month or $59.99 a year). The photo is a search. You still add oil. The pages we read do not describe an Ozempic or Zepbound dose log, so pair it with a shot tracker if you need both. Stay here if the gram has to come from a database entry you will edit. NutriCam vs Cronometer. Other photo-first options if the diary is the problem: Cronometer alternatives.

4. Lose It: best Premium GLP-1 log next to a calorie budget

Lose It’s GLP-1 Logging help, updated September 1, 2026, requires Premium. It names Zepbound, Mounjaro, Wegovy, and Ozempic, estimated medication levels, and “specific nutrient targets like protein and fiber.” Never change a dose from the graph; the same page says follow your provider. The App Store listing, read October 12, 2026, names GLP-1 Support and puts photo meal logging and advanced protein tracking on Premium. It lists Premium Features at $39.99 and calls Premium a yearly subscription. iPhone and Android. Other photo-log options: Lose It alternatives.

5. MeAgain: best plate photo next to the shot

MeAgain’s site, read October 12, 2026, is an all-in-one GLP-1 tracker. Snap a photo or speak; it names protein, fiber, and water next to shots or pills. The App Store listing that day names photo, barcode, and search food logging, and says some features require a subscription. Unlimited SKUs run from $14.99 to $119.99 with no billing period on those SKUs. The site names iPhone and Android. The U.S. listing we read is iPhone, iOS 16.4+. MeAgain says it does not provide medical advice. Confirm the plate. A photo cannot weigh the serving.

6. NutriCam: best remaining protein after a few bites, on iPhone

NutriCam is our app, and it is iPhone only. Photograph a meal or say what you ate, confirm the estimate, and see calories, macros including protein, and vitamins and minerals. Then ask what to eat next from today’s log, targets, workouts, and Apple Health sleep when connected. It does not log shots or doses, and it does not treat side effects. Skip it if you need Android, a verified food database, or a GLP-1 shot log. What the app is: what is NutriCam. How the next-meal answer works: what should I eat next. Protein from a plate photo, compared by job: which app tracks protein from a photo.

The protein floor, two apps, and ChatGPT

Appetite on Ozempic or Zepbound often collapses. The job flips from eating less to eating enough, mostly protein, so you keep muscle. That is a floor, not a ceiling. The target is not ours to set.

Mozaffarian and colleagues, 2025, a joint advisory from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the American Society for Nutrition, the Obesity Medicine Association, and The Obesity Society, read October 12, 2026, cite the adult RDA of 0.8 g of protein per kilogram per day. They note higher targets such as 1.2–1.6 g/kg/day proposed during active weight reduction, and an alternative absolute target of 80–120 g/day. Intake should not fall below 0.4–0.5 g/kg/day. Prolonged intake at or above 2 g/kg/day should be avoided. The Obesity Society’s May 30, 2025 summary lists adequate protein intake and strength training to preserve lean mass as one of eight nutritional priorities. The same advisory says protein alone is likely inadequate without structured resistance training. Ask your prescriber for your number. An app only adds the grams you logged.

People often run two apps. Shotsy keeps the shot. MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, or Lose It keep the food. Shotsy can import protein from Apple Health on Shotsy+. MeAgain and Lose It Premium keep dose and food in one product. Pick the split you will actually open after a few bites.

ChatGPT is not a protein tracker. People ask it for protein ideas from what is in the house. It does not keep a running total unless you paste a table every time. Memory is not a food log. Use a diary for grams eaten. Keep medication questions with your prescriber.

A camera cannot weigh chicken or see filling. Confirm foods and portions. Kitchen tests of photo calorie apps ran low. Details: how accurate are AI photo calorie counting apps. None of these apps is a medical device. They do not diagnose, dose, or treat. Photo nutrition is an estimate.

Log the few bites you actually ate, then read remaining protein against the target your prescriber set. NutriCam is an iPhone advisor: photograph a meal or say what you ate, confirm the estimate, and see protein so far. It does not log shots or doses, does not treat side effects, and is not on Android.

No app can measure a meal from a photo. A picture cannot show oil, sauces, hidden ingredients, or portion weight. Every number from every app on this page is an estimate until you correct the foods and portions. We have not run an accuracy test across these apps, so this page makes no accuracy ranking.
