Is there a voice calorie tracker that remembers what I ate today?
Yes. Apps log a spoken meal into a diary you can reopen later. Welling writes dictation to Progress. MyFitnessPal Voice Log and Cronometer Voice Log write to a diary. ChatGPT Voice can hear the meal. OpenAI says Memory does not retain every detail, so today’s total is not a log.

Which voice calorie trackers remember today
| App | Voice log | How today is stored | “What’s left for dinner?” | Platforms | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Voice | Speak the meal in Voice. Live can use Memory | The chat, if you keep it. Memory is not a food log | Yes, if today’s table is still in the chat or a file | Web, iPhone, Android | Free plan has limited Live access. Plus: 3 hours of GPT-Live-1 per 24 hours (OpenAI Voice help, October 10, 2026) |
| Welling | FAQ: tap the microphone in the chatbox, speak the meal | A log. Progress > Calories keeps past dates | Yes. FAQ: ask for ideas for remaining calories and macros | iPhone, Android | Subscription required. App Store lists monthly SKUs at $9.49, $19.99, and $22.99; annual from $59.00 to $119.99 (October 10, 2026) |
| MyFitnessPal | Premium Voice Log: describe the meal out loud | A diary. Tomorrow’s app still has today’s meals | Nutrition Coach, on some Premium iPhone plans, reads remaining calories from the diary | iPhone, Android, web | Voice Log is Premium. $79.99 a year or $19.99 a month (Premium page, October 10, 2026) |
| Cronometer | Gold Voice Log: speak to the app or Siri | A diary against lab-analyzed or verified foods | Crono Coach is Gold, on the diary, not on a chat thread | iPhone, Android, web | Voice Log is Gold. $10.99 a month or $59.99 a year (Gold page, October 10, 2026) |
| SnapCalorie | App Store: snap a photo or dictate a voice note | A log. Listing: see the entire day at a glance | Not a next-meal feature its pages describe | iPhone, Android | FAQ: free for up to 3 AI logs a day. Premium $19.99 a month or $149 a year (October 10, 2026) |
| NutriCam | Say what you ate, or photograph the plate. Confirm before it is the day’s record | Confirmed meals in the app. The day stays | Yes. Next-meal from today’s log, targets, workouts, and Apple Health sleep when connected | iPhone only | Free download. Pro is $9.99 a month, or $34.99 to $49.99 a year (U.S. App Store, confirmed August 26, 2026) |
Lose It, updated January 26, 2026 and read October 10, 2026, also logs by voice. Voice Logging is Premium after three free tries. That is a calorie diary with a microphone, not a chat. Stay in ChatGPT Voice if the job is a sentence in one thread and you will keep a table. Move to a diary when closing the chat has to leave today’s meals in place.
Why ChatGPT Voice does not keep the day
| Tool | What it does with a spoken meal | What is there tomorrow |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Voice | OpenAI’s Voice help, October 10, 2026: Voice works within a chat. Live can use Memory, and a transcript is added after the call | That chat, if you kept it. A new chat does not have the rows |
| ChatGPT Memory | It may remember a protein target or how you take coffee | OpenAI, October 10, 2026: Memory does not retain every detail. ChatGPT decides what is relevant. Today’s running total is not a saved memory |
| A Project file | You save the meal table as a project source | The file. The Voice chat inside the project still drifts |
| A diary app | The microphone writes a row you can edit | The row. Reopening the app is enough |
People who track food in chat already speak the meal: “add four crackers to the running total.” Voice makes that faster. It does not make Memory a ledger. OpenAI’s Voice help says transcripts are not verbatim, and a long conversation can hit a context limit and end. Keep a table in a Project if you stay. How to keep that table honest: how to track calories with ChatGPT without it forgetting. Why the spoken total still drifts: why ChatGPT gets calorie totals wrong.
What “remembers today” actually means
It means you can close the app, lock the phone, and open it later, and breakfast is still there without a paste. A chat is a window. A diary is a store.
Welling’s FAQ is the chat-shaped version of that store: dictation types the meal into the log, and Progress lets you open a past date. MyFitnessPal’s Premium page says you describe the meal out loud, then tap once to log the entire meal into the diary people already know. Cronometer’s Gold page says speak to the app or Siri and it matches key ingredients against the database. SnapCalorie’s App Store listing says dictate a voice note and see the day at a glance.
Typing a description is not a voice log. Cal AI’s site, read October 10, 2026, says snap a photo, scan a barcode, or describe your meal. We found no microphone claim on its website or App Store listing. The day is stored. The spoken sentence is not the product. NutriCam vs Cal AI.
NutriCam is our app, and it is iPhone only. Photograph a meal or say what you ate, confirm the estimate, and the day stays so you can ask what to eat next. It is not smarter than ChatGPT about nutrition. The claim is that the day is remembered. What the app is: what is NutriCam. How the next-meal answer works: what should I eat next. Apps by job if you are leaving the chat: alternatives to using ChatGPT as a calorie tracker.
A spoken calorie number is still a guess
A sentence does not weigh the plate. Oil, sauce, and a brand the model has not seen stay invisible. Confirm the foods and the portion before the row is the day’s record.
ChatGPT Voice has the same named-food problem as a typed log: the portion is whatever the model assumed. Diary apps that match speech to a database, such as Cronometer, still need you to pick the entry and the amount. SnapCalorie’s FAQ says it guesses oils from average values for the dish. Prefer a label or a barcode when you have one.
Photo logs miss oil too. Details: how accurate are AI photo calorie counting apps. For a verified micronutrient diary rather than a spoken estimate, NutriCam vs Cronometer.
No app can measure a meal from a photo. A picture cannot show oil, sauces, hidden ingredients, or portion weight. Every number from every app on this page is an estimate until you correct the foods and portions. We have not run an accuracy test across these apps, so this page makes no accuracy ranking.
Keep the voice log you already have, in ChatGPT, if you will keep a table. If the job is a spoken meal that is still there after you close the chat, that is an app. NutriCam is an iPhone advisor: photograph a meal or say what you ate, confirm the estimate, and the day stays so you can ask what to eat next. It is not smarter than ChatGPT about nutrition. It is not a medical device, and it is not on Android.
